250 Podcast Episodes!?

In 2011 I first fell in love with podcasts and listened to them non-stop. In 2013 I finally started my first podcast and it was an absolute train wreck where I’d end up belligerently drunk half way through the episode. In 2015, I quite drinking started a show and published multiple episodes every single week, ultimately ending it towards the end of 2015.

At this time I launched the current show The Bandrew Says Podcast and put out 8 episodes from 2015 to the start of 2016. I got a knock on the door from some intimidating people telling me the content needed to be destroyed, so I destroyed it and the show kept on going. 5 years later and we just hit 250 episodes, a number that I never would have imagined possible. 100 episodes seemed in possible. 200 seemed even more impossible. 250 seemed even more more impossible. Yet here we are.

Honestly, i don’t pay much attention to the number of episodes that have come out, and this kind of snuck up on me, but I do think it’s worth it to at least point it out and take a minute to pat myself on the back while I write this article. Thanks to everyone who has listened for 250 episodes, or 242 available episodes, and I’m simultaneously sorry that you’ve listened to me for that much.

Weiss 38mm Standard Issue Field Watch Review

Today we’re looking at an assembled in the USA field watch, the Weiss 38mm Standard Issue Field Watch. This is a 38mm field watch with a hand wind movement that’s assembled and finished in the USA. It has a 316L stainless steel case, 100m water resistance, and a sapphire crystal with a sapphire display caseback.

Hamilton Khaki Automatic 38mm Review

Today we’re looking at a great everyday watch from Hamilton, the Khaki Auto 38mm (H70455133). With an 80 hour power reserve, a legible dial, a comfortable bracelet, a thin case and 100m water resistance, I think I could easily use this watch every day without any issues. I do think the lack of drilled lugs, minimal micro adjust options, and no screw down crown are a bit of a let down. But for the price I think the package is pretty great.

My Everyday Carry / Everyday Use (January 2020)

It has been a long time since I’ve done an Everyday Carry update. A lot of the stuff is pretty similar, but given the fact that I’ve been locked inside for nearly all of 2020 I figured it was time to update this to include what I use everyday.

2020: All The Content I Created

Just because this year was crazy and I thought that I was going to quit about 50 times throughout the year, I decided I’d make a list of the content that I published over the last year to show what I accomplished over the year. I have included all the videos I published during 2020 into a playlist to the right or you can click here to view it on youtube if you are interested in checking the videos.

Thank you all for an awesome year, even though it was crazy, and here’s to an awesome 2021. I can’t wait to see what the next year brings.

Shark Clip Classic Digital Watch Review / Walkthrough

Today I review a classic surf watch, the Shark. This watch goes for between $55 - $65, and packs in dual time zone, dual alarm, timer, stop watch, and 100M water resistance. The biggest surprise to me was the accuracy of this thing. Over a month I didn’t even lose a full second. The biggest downside to me is the clip on the classic feels extremely weak, so if you’re looking at this, I’d recommend going for the velcro.

Forgot to mention the Lug Width is 20mm.

Bandrew's Favorite Things of 2020

For this month I didn’t want to focus on my favorite things of just one month, but of the whole year, and they are all things that helped me get through this crazy weird year.

First up is the Neumann U67 which is more of a way to commemorate 200,000 subscribers and 5 years of consistent uploading on youtube, and it has been a ton of fun to use. It has allowed to have a constant reminder of the hard work I’ve put in to the channel which never ceases to put a smile on my face.

Second on the list are watches. YouTube started recommending me a bunch of watch videos and my appreciation of watches went from a minor enjoyment of to an all out love of them. They have provided a sense of order and consistency that has been lacking this year, and it has helped me remember the day of the week and day it is which has been great.

Lastly is Discord. A company I don’t trust, and don’t like all that much, but the Podcastage community has been essential for me this year to stay sane. A lot of folks have struggled with isolation, but having a group of people to voice chat with and play games with and watch movies with has really helped out this year.

Let me know what some of your favorite things of 2020 are that helped you get through this year.

My Watch History

I’m always interested hearing about people’s journey through hobbies they have, what interests them about their hobbies, where it started, and where it ended. Because of that I thought that a great way to start my channel would be with a short video about my history with watches ranging from the first watch that I remember owning to the watch that really led to me diving head first into watches again.

This starts from the Freestyle USA Shark watch, a staple of surf culture in the 80’s and 90’s all the way to the Hamilton Khaki Mechanical, which I got to help me remember to slow down and calm down during the high anxiety moments caused during the beginning of Covid.

I hope you enjoy the video and if you want more feel free to check out www.watchcastage.com which will take you to the youtube channel.

New Channel: Casio AE1200WH Review

Welp, I’ve done it. I started ANOTHER YouTube channel. I have been planning to start a watch YouTube channel and was going to wait until I got final artwork in and had 3-4 videos in the pipeline, but then i thought “Why wait? Let’s start now”, so here we go. You can find the youtube channel by going to www.watchcastage.com

Today I review the AE1200WH, a $20 - $30 budget world time / GMT watch from Casio. This thing is extremely feature packed with the ability to have 5 time zones set, 5 alarms, a countdown timer, a stop watch, a very usable backlight, 100M water resistance, and a 10 year battery. For the money, it’s hard to beat the features of this watch.

Bandrew's Favorite Things November 2020

Time for another list of my favorite things for the month.

First up is a pen; the Fisher Space Pen AG-7. I have raved about the bullet in the past, but this is a full sized pen, and this is the actual model that was taken into space. It uses the same cartridges and fits well in the hand, making it a great option for writing all day for work.

Next we have the complete series box set for Dan Harmon’s Community, one of the greatest sitcoms ever made. This is 6 seasons and 110 episodes telling the story of a study groups journey through community college with oh so many tangents. It has some of the most lovable and relatable characters at times, but the thing that stands out the most is it’s ability to make you laugh and then feel something. It’s exactly why Spaced is one of my all time favorites as well.

Then we have two Timex watches. 1st up is Timex’s new Peanuts Thanksgiving watch which has Snoopy and Woodstock in pilgrim hats with a brown dial, and a brown strap and an orange seconds hand. It’s 40mm, quartz, has indiglo, and just like all timex weekenders has the loudest ticking of any wristwatch ever, but I still enjoy it because it helps me get into the mood for the season. And 2nd we have the Timex Q Reissue, a reissue of a quartz diver style watch at 38mm, with a 12 hour bezel to set a second time zone, a day date complication, and an amazing vintage aesthetic, but it lacks in the water resistance department at 50M.

Lastly I picked the Electro Harmonix Op Amp Big Muff Pi Fuzz Pedal. This is the fuzz tone I’ve always wanted. A mix between Muse and Smashing Pumpkins and Hendrix. It just does everything and it’s affordable and built crazy well. I love fuzz. Fuzz is tight.
