BSP-261: Condenser Sound with Dynamic Rejection, Cheap Pop Filters Better than Expensive?

On episode 261 of the BSP, I answer questions about what mic does pod save America use, if you can get zero latency monitoring from a USB mic, what mics give you the condenser sound with dynamic mic rejection, suggested vocal mics under $500, an affordable alternative to Izotope RX8, and if cheap pop filters can outperform expensive pop filters.

Neumann TLM49 Mic Review / Test

oday I review a vintage inspired, mid forward mic from Neumann, the TLM49. This thing has a very controlled low-end, a bump in the upper mids, and a tame but clear top end. If you’re going for a mid-forward Neumann sound, this thing sounds great.

Blink 182 - Dumpweed (Cover)

I’m reviewing the Neumann TLM49 soon and I wanted to get some more use out of the mic before reviewing it so I recorded an acoustic cover of Dumpweed by Blink 182.

I didn’t do too much in terms of altering the sound of the recording because I wanted the character of the mic. Therefore, on the vocals, I didn’t do any EQ, I just added an LA2A silver and a bit of Reverb. The Acoustic, I did do a little bit of a high pass and pulled a tiny bit of highs down
