Del Griffith's Wrist Watch in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

In the past I was mistaken in thinking that the watch Del Griffith, played by John Candy, in Planes Trains and Automobiles was the Casio A158. Upon further research, it appears that this is the Casio A159.

The main difference between between the A158 and A159 are the bracelet. The 158 has more of an h-link style bracelet while the A159 has a 5 piece bracelet that apparently does not have as much adjustability.

Neal Page's Watch in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

It’s Thanksgiving time and you know what that means, Planes Trains and Automobiles. I had noticed the casio on previous viewings, but on this rewatching of the movie, I noticed a great close up of Steve Martin’s watch while he’s waiting to get out of a meeting.

Turns out this is a well ID’ed watch, the PIAGET POLO 8673, which is a really small 31mm quartz watch in 18 karat gold. The stand out thing about this watch is the thickness. It’s only 5mm and I’m assuming that was the big selling point when it was originally released.
